Our Gear

Check back after 12/15 to read our in-depth gear reviews!!!!

Our 'big three'...

Sleeping bags!

We just bought our Zpacks Sleeping bags! Zpacks was very generous and gave us a discount on our bags, Thank you Zpacks!

Amy got the Wide, 20 degree, medium length (5'9"). Amy is 5'4".
Seth got the Wide, 20 degree, XLong (6'5"). Seth is 6'0"

We both got the Wide cut because I have heard from reviews that these bags tend to run a little tight. We also want to have the option of connecting the two bags for cuddling on the trail. The extra room in the wide cut offers more options as far as adding layers and drying gear as well.We also wanted to add a little more versatility by ordering bags that were the next length up from what we needed. Since these bags don't have hoods, we wanted the option of pulling the bag over our heads for deep burrowing.

Shelter!

We are purchased our shelter from YAMA and they too gave us a very generous discount. Gen hooked us up with their brand new 2 person model called the Swiftline. It's very roomy with two entrances and really cool features. Super stoked to take it with us on the journey. Thanks Gen!

Backpacks!

After a lot of research, we decided to go with ULA packs. Both of us went with the ULA Circuit.

Total volume: 4,200 cu in
Recommended max load: 35 lbs
Weight : 39ounces

ULA has great packs for both men and women. When Amy went to try on some packs, she found that finding a light-weight pack that will fit a short, petite woman, is very difficult. We both LOVE our packs. They hug our backs perfectly, it feels like they are a part of our bodies.

Beyond the 'big three'......

Sleeping Pads!

Amy and I will both be using Neoair Therm-A-Rest Pads and have some ZRest Pads at home as a back up.

Cooking!
We are bringing a Vargo Alcohol stove and an MSR Pocket Rocket for the California section since Alcohol stoves are banned for this year.

We will be cooking in a quart sized titanium pot by MSR

A detailed list of our gear will be made at some point but here is a picture of one of our packs and its contents.....Pretty much everything except food is shown in the picture. I don't have a weight for it all yet, but I am expecting it to be around a 12lb base weight. STOKED!
