Our PCT Adventure

We walk for love, for health, for life!

Happy Hiking!

“Wilderness is not a luxury but a necessity of the human spirit, and as vital to our lives as water and good bread. A civilization which destroys what little remains of the wild, the spare, the original, is cutting itself off from its origins and betraying the principle of civilization itself.”
― Edward AbbeyDesert Solitaire

In the fast pace and buzz of our western culture, we sometimes neglect to stop and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us every moment. We aim to slow our pace, take deep breaths of fresh air, and be aware of every precious moment as we walk through the celestial playground of the wilderness on the Pacific Crest Trail.

While hiking the PCT, we will be paying close attention to our health, we will eat healthy to fuel our bodies through such an amazing, long journey. It's going to be fascinating to have our bodies handle the physical challenge and reach a peak fitness level with the help of walking and healthy food!

We embark on a journey to admire the beautiful moment we live in and deeply connect to our home, one step at a time. Hiking The Pacific Crest Trail is not only an opportunity to explore our immediate home in our expansive universe, but it is also a time to turn our attention inward and explore the home that resides within our hearts.

Hopes, Aspirations, & Goals

Goals:
- Maintain this blog while on the trail and to put my untamed, free-flowing thoughts in it.
Through this blog I hope to let my passion for life, love and the wilderness be known.
- Summit Mt. Whitney
- Climb many trees
- Support my partner as best as I can
- Hike with joy in my heart
- Hike with a determined focus
- Detach from expectations and keep an open mind
- Eat healthy
- Be present
- LOVE

Our goals for our food/diet:
- Eat well balanced meals while hiking, including fruits and vegetables daily, and consume enough calories (4,000-6,000 calories/day!!!)
- Gather products from conscious companies that have environmentally friendly practices
- Support local and/or small businesses

I am hoping to deepen my understanding of myself and my place in this world. I want to explore both the physical world around me and the eternal world within. I want to find the focus and determination within myself that will awaken my dreams into reality. All it takes is for us to open our eyes and the whole universe transforms into a canvas of limitless possibilities...

I aspire to inspire to be inspired! I want my journey to be an endless inspiration in each moment for me to live life with wonder and inspiration. I aspire to tint my lens, through which I see the world, with the color of childhood amazement and the unselfconscious excitement as if discovering a new world. I aspire to to inspire others to feel the excitement and embark on their own journey. I believe that all our thoughts and actions directly affect the universe in various degrees and that what we do and say, in fact, matters. I also believe that every one is on the same path to unity and that our affect on each other is only a part of our ultimate awakening. With that said, I want to create waves in my life that will accelerate the awakening of my community and inspire those around me to live a more compassionate, conscious life!

Walking a trail through the wilderness can at first seem rather selfish and though I might have some selfish reason for doing this journey, I have selfless motives as well. I want to show the importance of wilderness and solitude. I want to show the rewards of discomfort and how recognizing both physical pain and emotional pain as vehicles of transformation can be an incredible, empowering practice. I want to share my translations of the discourses given in nature's primal tongue. I want to raise public awareness of the importance of our wild lands and hopefully affect the protection of our wilderness.

  1. Hay y'all! Awesome blog!
My girlfriend and I have been planning our own PCT adventure and have been lurking on your blog for a bit, seriously inspiring/informative! We're hoping to get some advice from you guys. The kickoff party looks awesome, and we are contemplating it, but we also want to get a head start and not be in the huge crowd of people starting the trail this year. How did y'all manage to get to the party and back to your spot on the trail? Did you hitch a ride? arrange one? fly?

    Also my email is bensellersaudio@gmail.com
Thanks and hope to hear from you guys soon!
